The Sauven Codajet 6000 vs. the Foenix FX ONE

Why the FX ONE is the true Sauven Codajet 6000 successor and a drop-in replacement from the 21st century.

From a proven classic to a modern production printer

At first sight, the Sauven Codajet 6000 and the Foenix FX ONE may look like two very different generations of printer.

The Codajet 6000 set the standard in the early 1990s. The FX ONE has taken that same philosophy and brought it into the 21st century.

So why is the FX ONE such a natural replacement for the Codajet?

Because the philosophy has not changed — the technology has.

The same focus on simplicity, robustness, low maintenance, reliability and low cost per print remains at the heart of the FX ONE.

1. From isolated printers to connected production

When the Codajet 6000 was designed, networking was simply not part of everyday industrial production.

The FX ONE was built for today's connected factory.

USB and RS232 provide simple connectivity, while Ethernet opens the door to more advanced integration.

Same simplicity. Modern connectivity.

2. From individual message banks to centralised messages

With the Codajet 6000, messages were stored inside each printer.

Moving a production job to another printer meant recreating or transferring those messages. A reset could also mean losing the message bank.

The FX ONE works differently.

Messages are created using PC software and stored centrally. The printer simply receives the image it needs to print.

Messages can therefore be backed up, copied and used across multiple printers.

One message library. Multiple production lines.

3. From EPROM burners to modern graphics

Remember the EPROM burner?

Changing a logo on the Codajet could involve dedicated hardware and restricted graphic formats.

With the FX ONE, widely used graphic formats such as JPEG can be used directly through the PC software.

Your logos and messages remain securely stored on your network and can be sent to any connected printer.

No EPROM burner. No unnecessary complexity.

4. More distance. True contact-free printing.

The Codajet 6000 typically worked at around 0–2 mm from the substrate. The recommendated distance was "get it to rub on the printer" or as close as possible.

The FX ONE can print at a standard throw distance of up to 10 mm. And even greater printing downwards, the FX ONE is a true contact-free printer, giving much greater protection against rubbing, dust, knocks and product movement.

The result is a more forgiving installation and a more reliable printhead.

The FX ONE can also achieve 120-150 prints per minute, depending on the application.

Closer when needed. Contact-free by design.

5. More information. More possibilities.

The Codajet 6000 could print up to four lines of text — impressive technology for its time.

The FX ONE takes this further.

Depending on character size and application, eight lines of 2 mm text is easily achievable, alongside graphics and other variable information.

Batch numbers, dates, traceability information and product identification can all be combined in one print.

Twice the lines. Further and beyond.

The same spirit. A different generation.

The FX ONE is not about forgetting what made the Codajet successful.

It is about keeping it.

Simple. Robust. Reliable. Low maintenance. Economical.

The difference is that the FX ONE adds the technology today's production environment demands.

Networking instead of isolation.
PC software instead of local message banks.
Modern graphics instead of EPROM burners.
Greater throw distance instead of contact printing.
More capability without unnecessary complexity.

The Codajet 6000 proved the philosophy.

The FX ONE brings it into the future.
